About Tabernacle Rescue Squad (TRS)
The mission of the Tabernacle Rescue Squad (TRS) is to provide exceptional emergency medical and rescue services to the residents and visitors of Tabernacle Township, located in Burlington County, New Jersey. In addition to serving our local community, we provide mutual aid to surrounding jurisdictions and specialize in technical rescues, emergency services rehabilitation, rescue task force operations, and large animal rescues.
Our History and Service Area
Founded in 1953, TRS has proudly served the residents of Tabernacle & Shamong Township for over 70 years. Our service area spans 94.44 square miles, encompassing a population of approximately 13,000 residents. While the area is primarily residential, it also includes industrial and commercial establishments, major roadways like State Highway Route 206 and County Highway Route 532, and critical infrastructure such as three school complexes and a significant portion of Wharton State Forest.
Facilities and Fleet
TRS operates from a centrally located station within Tabernacle township. Our well-equipped apparatus fleet includes:
- Six ambulances
- One heavy rescue truck
- One 4×4 off-road ambulance
- One marine unit
- One County Mass Casualty Trailer
- Two command vehicles
Call Volume
Each year, TRS responds to over 1,000 calls for service, providing critical care and rescue support to those in need.
